The Research Program Manager will provide project management in countries around the world and make significant contributions to various complex research and evaluation projects at the Institute for Global Tobacco Control (IGTC). The manager will provide high quality service and meet deadlines through superb organization, accuracy, excellent communication skills, sensitivities to the needs of the sponsor and partner organizations and prioritization of activities.

  • Manage the scientific and administrative implementation of research and evaluation studies for complex research projects.
  • Develop and monitor budgets for projects, ensuring that financial priorities and objectives are met.
  • Design logic models based on the theoretical and empirical literature.
  • Assist in the design of research and evaluation studies for policy interventions, particularly innovative designs that allow rapid collection, analysis and interpretation of data.
  • Create data collection tools, collect data, analyze and interpret quantitative and qualitative data.
  • Assist with IRB submissions. Navigate IRB committees and comply with research administration requirements and procedures.
  • Prepare manuscripts, reports, fact sheets, conference presentations, and other dissemination materials.
  • As part of the study team develop project proposals, standard operating procedures, and supervise study-related activities.
  • Accountable for grant submission and administration, and regulatory compliance.
  • Supervise or oversee other research staff.
  • Exercise judgment, initiative and innovation in decision-making involving design, implementation and coordination of the programs and evaluating the performance of project activities against overall objectives.

Job Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in related discipline. Five years related experience.
  • Must be willing and able to travel internationally.
  • Experience designing studies and data collection instruments, including training field workers in data collection methods and procedures.
  • Experience with a broad range of data collection techniques, including surveys, interviews, focus groups, biomarkers and environmental measures.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated supervisory or lead responsibilities.
  • Experience managing large complex projects.
  • Experience with an IRB.
  • Outstanding organizational and time management skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with minimal supervision and to make decisions independently.
  • Flexibility to work on multiple projects.
  • Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills.
  • A record of research publications and presentations.
