My client seeks a doctorate level engineer with 12+ years of relevant post-doctorate level experience supporting military/space related operational and performance medical research.  This candidate sits at the juncture of evaluating military/space personal equipment and gear designs with human usability, protection, health, and performance optimization goals.  This is the research on the man-machine-environment interfaces, focusing on maintaining or protecting human health while optimizing performance in both normal and stressed (military/mission) operational settings.  Navy, Coast Guard, Merchant Marine and related experiences are especially preferred.

Some examples of work this Subject Matter Expert might perform include:

-Various operational/performance studies in military/mission settings related to optimizing the design, development,, testing, evaluation, qualification, modification, and specification of materials. 

-R&D on materials in military/space personal uniforms and PPE, focusing on heat/cold, chemical, biological, explosion/shock, radiation or other related protection/mitigation attritubes

-Human Systems Integration, Operationally-based test and evaluation including the application of User-Centered Design, Human Cognition & Perception, Information Visualization, Processing, Retention, Action.  

-Human Factors Analysis, Usability Testing, Ergonomics & Psychology

-R&D in computer based models/simulation of material performance characteristics, failure limits, wearability and user performance factors

-Human Performance Testing:  Under environmental and operational challenges (heat, cold, humidity, aridity, altitude, diving depth, darkness, weight load/distribution, attention, sleep deprivation, etc.)
