SEIU is recruiting staff in Washington, DC, Oakland, CA, and Columbus, OH.
Duties Include:
  • Compile, research, and summarize data on industries, companies, individuals and issues in support of health care division campaigns.
  • Assist in production of written materials
  • Assist in data input and maintenance of computer database files
  • Respond to requests for information and appropriately define and develop those; make referrals as necessary.
  • Synthesize relevant facts/issues from a large amount of information/data.
  • Work with union staff to gather and provide information in a timely fashion.
  • Develop and implement his/her weekly work plan; meet deadlines.
  • Demonstrate the capability to learn and develop new skills.
  • Ability to assess financial documents
  • Perform other duties as required to support the department and its mission.
Job Qualifications:
Candidates must have the following:
  • A commitment to progressive social change and activist experience;
  • BA or BS degree from an accredited four-year college or university  in labor, economics, policy, finance or a related field and/or prior research experience
  • Possession of basic research skills
  • Possession of excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated comfort with numbers and technology
  • Knowledge of a variety of computer based research tools
  • Ability to travel, work well under tight deadlines and in a team environment
  • Willingness to work long and irregular hours when needed to meet campaign demands.
  • Knowledge of unions and their philosophies
  • Knowledge of research techniques and processes
  • Knowledge of quantitative techniques and analysis
  • Ability to work with people from diverse backgrounds and cultures
