The main research topic will be non-convex quadratic optimization problems and their application in statistic. Candidate will do research in the following directions:
- how to solve such problems (at least approximately) by using semidefinite, copositive and convex quadratic programming techniques,
- how to apply new and existing results from quadratic optimization in statistics, especially on clustering, classification and sparse principal component analysis problems.
Profile:
We expect: the candidate (he/she)
- was an outstanding math or computer science student,
- is intrinsically motivated and enjoy working in academic career,
- will do the research work in the Laboratory of data technologies at the Faculty of information studies in Novo mesto and will do Ph.D. in mathematics, statistics, or computer science at the appropriate university in Slovenia or abroad.
