I. PURPOSE OF THE JOB:
|
Accountable for the proactive development and support of Research and Development trials and projects. Trial and projects based on strategic direction from the Director of Research and Development.
Accountable for project management, measuring and reporting improvement activities and seeking assistance from superiors immediately upon encountering impediments.
|
II. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
|
Improve process capabilities; identify improvement opportunities, responsible for justification of capital expenditures and provide leadership on projects to ensure performance paybacks, reduction in waste, cost of quality, and overall validation and calibration of any new system or equipment.
Implemen t and Sustain Root Cause and Corrective Action Analysis of manufacturing problems.
Utilize the corrective action system to continuously reduce defects and their corresponding effect on customer satisfaction, costs and schedules in the converting departments.
T he primary focus for process control will be the Print, Extrude, slit / rewind and palletizing processes. Assignments in the converting processes will be made at the discretion of the R&D Director in regards to Downtime, Run, Make-ready and Waste.
Facilitate pre-production meetings on an as-needed basis.
Support a supplier / raw materials vendor certification program to improve supplier performance and reduce raw material variation.
Provide C.S.I.E. Support as needed. Work with appropriate departments to improve system of establishing and communicating specifications to Suppliers, Customers and internal departments. for example, specifically in manufacturing, review and approve process sheet ("trial sheets") documentation for each item at each operation to establish and communicate manufacturing tolerances, measurement criteria, process settings and special instructions for a particular job.
Understand and be able to use measuring instruments that are required for AMGRAPH processes. For example, physical methodology, image methodology, colorimetry, densitometry are all measurement disciplines required to measure and understand AMGRAPH processes.
Understand and be able to technically support QA technicians and Manufacturing personnel in the use of automated SPC data collection equipment and software packages for the purpose of better understanding process and the actions that may be indicated to eliminate assignable cause variation and minimize common cause variation.

III. OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
|
Attend internal trials and customer visits as needed
Recommend standards and revisions, cost reductions, and productivity improvement . Participa tes in the Safety Program.
Travel to attend trials as needed,(2-3 weeks notice prior to travel)
Pe rforms assigned duties as requested.

IV. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

V. KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

College degree required ideally with emphasis in technical, chemical or engineering discipline.
1. Proven hands on experience in a company committed to Lean Manufacturing Philosophy.
