The network aims to identify key areas in the metabolism of protozoan parasites causing malaria and sleeping sickness that are exploitable for discovery of urgently needed new drugs against these diseases. This will be achieved by multidisciplinary research projects supervised by experts from academia and pharmaceutical industry.

ParaMetwill train highly talented young scientists in advanced technologies such as high content RNAiscreening, transcriptomics, metabolomics, mathematical modelling and drug discovery through biochemical and structural approaches. Thus the programme offers a unique opportunity to outstanding applicants to engage in the drug discovery process in an academic and industrial setting.
