Sandia National Laboratories is seeking a Postdoctoral Scientist to perform research in application of microfluidics to chemical and biochemical analysis at the Joint BioEnergy Institute (www.jbei.org). The individual will work on a multi-disciplinary project involving analytical chemists, physical chemists, engineers and biologists to develop miniaturized devices and techniques applicable to bioenergy research. Specific examples include development of integrated microfluidic devices for high throughput genomic analysis, for assembly of metabolic pathways, and for carrying out enzyme screening. The research will involve work with labon-a-chip techniques, microfabrication, molecular biology, and cell culture.
Required
- Recent Ph.D. in analytical chemistry, physical chemistry, analytical biochemistry, or engineering (chemical, mechanical or bio) is required.
- Extensive experience in one or more of the following areas: microfabrication of PDMS and glass chips, droplet microfluidics, electrophoresis, basic molecular biological techniques and cell-culture.
- A strong record of high technical achievement as evidenced by publication in high-impact scientific journals and the demonstrated ability to conduct creative, independent research is required.
Desired
- Knowledge of one or more detection technologies such as fluorescence, electrochemical and mass spectrometry is also desired.
