JOB SUMMARY
The Biostatistician will serve as an integral part of the institutional research team, supporting and advancing clinical and health services research studies through technical guidance on research study design, analytic concepts and data analysis. The Biostatistician will be a member of the Medical Center’s Office of Research Administration.
RESPONSIBILITIES
§ Advise faculty, residents, fellows, nurses and other research staff (“researchers”) across the Institution on the following: research study design, appropriate statistical and analytical methods and plans for research studies, sample size and power calculations, and the design and development of research databases and data collection tools
§ Perform data cleaning and aggregation and conduct analyses of research study data
§ Support the preparation of methods and results sections for research study protocols, manuscripts and grant applications
§ Serve as an in-house technical consultant for the Medical Center’s Institutional Review Board (IRB), Research and Development Foundation Grants Review Committee, and data safety monitoring boards (DSMB)
QUALIFICATIONS
§ At a minimum, a Masters degree in Statistics, Epidemiology, Public Health or other relevant field is required
§ A minimum of five years of experience in data analysis of a broad range of health care data
§ Extensive knowledge of statistical concepts and analytical methods
§ Extensive experience with statistical software programs such as SPSS and/or SAS
§ Demonstrated experience in supporting the development of manuscripts published in peer-reviewed journals
§ Demonstrated ability to deliver customer-friendly service to Institutional medical and professional staff
§ Demonstrated ability to work on multiple projects
§ Excellent interpersonal, organizational, written and communication skills
§ Ability to work independently and in a team environment
