As a Federal Contracts Officer, this individual will be required to review and negotiate a wide variety of contracts for externally sponsored research, training, and public service awards. Award documents will include contracts, cooperative agreements, material transfer agreements, non-disclosure agreements, teaming agreements, and simple license agreements. An emphasis will be placed primarily on federal contracts, with state, foundation, and other not for profit awards secondarily as assigned. The candidate must be able to successfully manage a complex portfolio and must have the ability to work both independently and as an effective team member, when necessary. This position must work collaboratively within the Office of Research as well as with other central University offices and staff members, and occasionally may be asked to assume additional work to assure all work is handled and processed in a timely manner. Applicant should have demonstrated facilitation skills and ability to work with individuals to develop and accomplish shared goals. Negotiation skills to balance sponsor and university needs while assuring compliance with applicable policies and regulations are essential. Applicant must be able to review and analyze complex contracts and other agreements, offer new and innovative solutions, and to effectively negotiate acceptable terms and conditions. Must be detail oriented and familiar with Word. Position requires strong interpersonal skills, exercise of appropriate tact, and circumspection as well as ability to prioritize multiple tasks. Routine tasks include daily preparation of forms, multiple conferrals with constituents, and variety of written and electronic correspondence. Provides other assistance, including special analyses as delegated by Supervisor and/or Director. Individual must have at least 3 years of relevant experience in a sponsored research environment. B.A./B.A degree required; Master's degree or equivalent desired. A working knowledge of federal regulations including but not limited to FARs, DFARs, CFRs, OMB circulars, export controls, and federal compliance regulations for animal and human subject research. Strong written and oral communication skills and interpersonal skills. Knowledge of Windows PC applications required.
