PhD Position: An investigation of the essential skills and characteristics of successful match play in club and intercounty Ladies Gaelic Football

Job Description

Project Description:

The role and influence of data in global sport continues to grow exponentially. Coaches and officials in Gaelic Games have embraced this digital revolution using sports analysis techniques to inform decision making. A steady flow of research is emerging to paint a comprehensive picture of the physical, technical, and tactical demands of Gaelic Football (GF), however only one paper has been published about Ladies GF.

This study aims to address the imbalance of knowledge by investigating the skill and game demands of Ladies GF in club and intercounty competitions. The student will analyse club and county LGF games using PA software to build on previous work completed by TU Dublin researcher Glen Kelly. Project outputs will enhance our understanding of the game demands of LGF and how the skills of the game are deployed at various levels.
