Project Description Tissue engineered heart valves are the next generation of treatment for paediatric patients who require a valve prostheses. This project examines in detail the relationship between material properties and cells. We will examine the effect of dynamic environments on cell embedded scaffolds and use a range of engineering and microscopy techniques to identify how to drive development of tissue in vitro. This interdisciplinary project sits within a larger programme of research in collaboration with other universities in Ireland.
Student Requirements for this Project BE in Biomedical Engineering or similar.
Self Funded (Scholarship not available. Fees & Materials to be paid by the student. Materials costs are significant)
