A Research Technician position is available in the laboratory of Dr. Seema Lakdawala in the Department of MMG at Bridgeside Point II. The primary focus of the Lakdawala laboratory is to understand how pandemic influenza viruses emerge from zoonotic reservoirs, with a special focus on airborne transmission and intracellular reassortment of influenza viruses. Please check out our website for more information: Lakdawalal ab.com The incumbent will be responsible for tasks related to the preparation and basic operation of lab functions. Tasks could include, but are not limited to basic maintenance of lab-related facilities, routine husbandry and monitoring of animals, collection/coding of data, and procedures on large animals. The incumbent will also maintain detailed written records. This position will also oversee and train 3 undergraduate researchers in the lab. Weekly meetings with project collaborators at CMU will be required. The qualified candidate should have a bachelors degree in a relevant field and two years of experience or equivalent combination of relevant education and experience. . Working knowledge of R script and other computer programing languages is desired. Candidates with a working knowledge of python coding are encouraged to apply. An Influenza vaccination and TB test are required for the incumbent.
Competency in Excel software and GraphPad Prism software is required. Competency in calculations involved in buffer preparation is required. Must be able to perform aseptic research in a sterile environment.
