Med-Medicine – Pennsylvania-Pittsburgh – (21007451)

The University of Pittsburgh’s Division of Pulmonary, Allergy, and CCM is looking for a highly motivated, independent, but team-oriented Senior Laboratory Specialist to work with a principal investigator on molecular biology projects and protein ubiquitination in COPD. Responsibilities for the position include, but are not limited to, development work in the following in the field of lung epithelial biology in COPD: – Molecular Biology Techniques – DNA/RNA extraction, purification, and quantification – Western blotting – Immunofluorescence staining of cells and tissues – Luciferase reporter assays – Confocal microscopy – Qualitative/quantitative real-time PCR – Cell culture, cell transfection – Immunoprecipitation – Harvesting tissues and cells from mice – Assist the PI on text and figures for manuscript preparation and grant proposals. – Summarize and analyze the data using GraphPad Qualified. Applicants will possess independent problem-solving skills, molecular biological laboratory expertise and knowledge of underlying mechanisms, computer proficiency, and exceptional attention to detail. Generation of data is expected to be conducted at the highest levels of academic integrity. Master’s degree in Molecular Biology or related field plus laboratory experience in medical research required. Prior experience with protein chemistry and post-translational modifications such as protein ubiquitination is a plus. Willing to substitute a Bachelor’s degree with 7 years of experience.
