Description: Coordinates activities for research study protocols and prepares protocol budgets and internal review board submissions. Reviews studies and patient results with physician, oversees patient recruitment and site visits, and advises patients regarding study activity. Oversees collection and processing of lab results and ensures compliance with protocol and regulatory standards. Performs general laboratory duties and guides staff.

Equivalent relevant work experience may be substituted for degree requirement. This position is located at UPMC Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh in Lawrenceville. PA Child Abuse History Clearance, PA State Police Criminal Record Check, and FBI Criminal Record Check will be required prior to the start of employment. Essential Functions: • Coordinates activities for the principal investigator’s study protocols. Reviews and discusses studies and patient results with physician. Prepares protocol budgets and internal review board submissions. • Oversees patient recruitment. Prepares for site visits and communicates regularly with study monitors. • Advises patients regarding study activity. Coordinates all patient appointments, provides necessary patient education, and facilitate personalized treatment plans for patients. • Acts as liaison between subject, investigator, laboratory, clinical lab, pathology, outside physicians, and the sponsoring agency or organization. • Oversees and reviews collection and processing of lab results. • Maintains protocol compliance and keeps investigator informed of subject participation, compliance, adverse events, and all subject related care. Oversees and completes accurate records of subject related accounts, including procedures and payments to department. Oversees all documents/records; enters data into databases/records in a timely and accurate manner. • Performs general laboratory duties including, but not limited to, monitors supply inventory, monitors temperatures of freezers and refrigerators, cleans equipment, and disposes of biological waste. • Performs specialized nursing duties such as arterial puncture, venipuncture, and operation of electronic monitoring equipment; assists with surgical and/or invasive procedures. • Ensures all protocol and regulatory standards adherence. • Assists with training of staff and ongoing guidance.
