Job Description

The University of Pittsburgh is seeking experienced interviewers for funded, sponsored research projects to make “cold calls” for our survey center. Ideal candidates must be able to work during at least two evening shifts that start at 5pm until 10:00 pm and weekend hours mostly. Total work hours will range from 20 to 37.5 hours per week. Currently, all work is being done off campus and remotely from home. A personal computer, that is NOT a Chromebook, and a reliable internet connection are required. Responsibilities include: initiate and code phone calls in our Survey Unit and complete interviews following prescribed scientific protocol. Attend and participate in all training provided by the Survey Unit; maintain the confidentiality of records and data collected; meeting quality assurance measures established for the Survey Unit interviewing staff; interact in a professional manner when dealing with the public, with co-workers, and with supervisors; be willing to assist
other Survey Unit related activities as assigned. 

The ideal candidate will be willing to work 20 to 37.5 hours a week, at least two evening shifts from 5:00pm until 10:00pm, and on the weekends. Ideal candidates will feel comfortable discussing sensitive health topics/conditions. Experience with telephone interviews and in-person interviews is preferred. Strong social and interpersonal skills. Computer proficiency. Ability to follow detailed instructions. Self-motivated. Excellent telephone demeanor. Ability to work well with the public. Research experience is preferred.
