The University of Pittsburgh is seeking a Curriculum and Instructional Specialist who will be responsible for designing, developing, and revising child welfare curriculum to be delivered in a variety of formats, including classroom, online, and blended learning environments, for the Pennsylvania Child Welfare Resource Center (Resource Center). The Curriculum and Instructional Specialist functions as a team member for the Curriculum and Trainer Development Department of the Resource Center.
The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor’s degree in training and development, adult education, or a closely related field; Master’s degree is preferred. Demonstrable competence and experience are required in one or more of the following areas: adult learning, needs assessment, training design, development, delivery, and evaluation is required. Knowledge of the Pennsylvania child welfare practice is preferred.
Competence and experience in designing and developing for Instructor-led training (ILT), online, and blended learning environments are highly desirable. Knowledge of the ADDIE model of instructional design, excellent analytical, critical thinking, interpersonal collaboration, problem-solving, planning/organizing, and facilitation skills is required. Attention to detail, the ability to plan and meet deadlines, and flexibility to quickly adapt are required. The incumbent must possess proficiency with Microsoft Office software, including PowerPoint. The willingness and ability to develop necessary skills with relevant tools and software are as needed. Experience with online courseware development applications is strongly preferred.
A minimum of one to three years’ experience in instructional design and development for ILT, online, and/or blended learning environments is necessary. Experience collaborating with subject matter experts is strongly preferred, as well as the experience in training delivery and/or group facilitation.
The incumbent must be able to travel long distances on a frequent basis, lift up to 30 pounds, set up and prepare audiovisual equipment for meetings and presentations, and stand for up to 6 hours.
A valid driver’s license is required.
Note: Position is located in Mechanicsburg, PA. Travel is required for this position.
