Grants & Contracts Specialist (HYBRID)

The University of Pittsburgh School of Pharmacy’s Program Evaluation and Research Unit (PERU) is seeking an experienced Fiscal and Grants Specialist with direct report to the School of Pharmacy. This position will share the fiscal administration and reporting workload with a Fiscal & Grants Manager, including research administration and compliance, high level sponsor relationship development and maintenance, research and related legal agreement development and execution, and project management. PERU’s grant portfolio includes federal, state, and foundation grants and this position will handle all aspects of pre- and post-award management. Experience working with ethnically and culturally diverse populations is preferred. A commitment to achieving healthcare diversity, equity, and inclusion is a must.

Job Summary Performs pre- and post-award accounting duties for complex grants and contracts. Prepares, negotiates, and monitors grants, contracts, and budgets. Maintains award-related schedules, prepares complex government applications and reports, and interprets policy and procedure. Monitors account activity, performs internal audits, resolves complex issues, and reviews routine financial documents. Develops and implements accounting techniques and procedures for operational improvements and assists with managing special projects and preparing operating budgets.

Essential Functions Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: – Providing oversight to PERU’s account portfolio (around 35 grants/contracts) – Managing all pre- and post-award activities using PERIS program – Developing and tracking fiscal matters relating to PERU’s projects, including creation of subaward agreements – Overseeing the reconciliation of expense reports – Preparing and training staff to develop budget justifications aligned with the work and sponsor requirements – Summarizing financial activities for all PERU projects under the guidance of the Executive Director – Maintaining good relationships with internal partners to facilitate proposal submission, project onboarding, and account management – Invoice submission and reconciliation, fiscal compliance, and close-out reporting.
