Faculty of Mathematics, Physics and Geodesy
One position for a University Assistant with doctorate, with tenure track to a position as Associate Professor in the area of Theoretical Biophysics/ Biophysical Modelling and Simulation, is open to be filled. The position, initially restricted to six years and offering the possibility of a qualification agreement for a tenured position, is 40 hours per week and it is expected to be filled from March, 1st 2018, at the Institute of Theoretical and Computational Physics
The successful candidate should also possess the following qualifications:
Research and teaching experience in theoretical and computational physics, with emphasis on biological applications. The key research area of the institute for theoretical and computational physics (https://www.tugraz.at/institute/itpcp/) are quantum mechanical many-body systems in and out of equilibrium as well as fusions plasma physics. The institute will participate in the university wide LEAD project Mechanics, Modelling, and Simulation of Aortic Dissection.
The methodical focus lies in statistical and computational physics. The applicant should fit into the methodological focus of the institute and broaden the application in the direction of classical many-body systems with biophysical application.
Excellent skills of the English language are expected as well as the willingness to learn the German language.
The position will involve the following duties: Research in Theoretical Biophysics/Biophysical Modelling and Simulation, teaching in theoretical and computational physics, cooperation with other institutes of Graz University of Technology.
Attract external project funding. Establishment and management of a research group.
The position will be paid according to category B1 of the collective agreement for employees of Austrian universities, stipulating a gross salary of € 4.018,10 (14 x per year).
